Welcome to the Teen Department!

The teen department includes a Teen Zone just for teens in grades 6-12. Teens have the opportunity to attend monthly programs or clubs, including a teen leadership council. The Teen Zone is equipped with four computers, three study tables, and a gaming area to play PS3, PS4, or Nintendo Switch games. Teen Library Logo/T-Shirt Design Contest

Calling all Teen Artists!

Teens in the leadership group (Dumbledore’s Army) at the Sugar Grove Public Library are seeking a design that represents libraries, teens, books, and fandoms.  Their primary goal is to turn this design into a t-shirt and other materials to show their support of the library & its services.  The design will be used for Summer Reading t-shirts and program materials for the Teen Department in 2018. Turn in your design for a chance to win a giftcard and a t-shirt with your design on it!

  • Who is eligible to enter? Sugar Grove cardholders in grades 6-12. 
  • When is the deadline? Monday, March 5th, by midnight CST. Winners will be voted on by a committee of teens and library staff members and will be announced on Monday March 12th.
  •  One winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card, and  t-shirt with your design. 
  • What?  Designs must be in black and white only and must be no larger than the equivalent of a 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.

Entries can be submitted by March 5th in-person at the Sugar Grove Public Library, 125 S. Municipal Drive, Sugar Grove, IL, or can be emailed to

The Library now has a Teen Library Council for grades 8-12. The Dumbledore's Army (DA) meets quarterly on a Saturday from 2:30-3:30 pm.

 View the calendar to search for the next meeting time.

  • Window Displays: Use paint markers to decorate the Teen Zone window walls.
  • Book Displays: Each month you will select books and make signs for a themed display, to help other teens find good books to read.
  • Program Help: Help select the programs that will be held at the library. Help prepare for the programs or volunteer during a program. 
  • Book Selection: Discuss your favorite books and authors with the Teen Librarian group leader, so that the Library knows which books to order!

Teen Zone

The Teen Zone is for tweens and teens in grades 6-12 to hang out, play video games, use the computer, and study.

What's inside?

  • Magazines
  • Three study tables with four chairs each
  • Gaming center with Wii, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4 gaming consoles, and four red gaming chairs 
  • Four computers equipped with Windows 10, Microsoft Office suite, and Minecraft Education Edition.
  • Coloring books and materials
  • Lap Desks
  • Most teen programs are held in this room.
