3D Printer

Sugar Grove Public Library District is getting ready to offer 3D printing on our new Bambu X1 Carbon printer!

  • Users must accept the 3D printing user agreement at this link. Users under 18 need a parent or guardian to fill out the form.
  • One filament color printing only. PLA filament colors available include: 
    • Black
    • White
    • Red
    • Yellow
    • Blue
    • Green
    • Purple 1 (Lavender)
    • Purple 2 (Sparkly dark purple)
    • Pink
    • Orange
    • Gold
    • Rainbow pastel
    • Glow-in-the-dark Green
  • One free print job per week of 50 grams of filament or less. Additional print jobs or filament for a project using more than 50g of filament is $.10 per gram. 
  • Maximum print time is 6 hours.
  • Patrons should email their STL or 3MF (.stl or .3mf) files or a URL link to the print for printing, along with their name and contact info, to adult@sgpl.org

3D printing resource sites

  • TinkerCad: Free, browser-based design tool with tutorials for beginners  
  • Thingiverse: Free repository of downloadable 3D models 
  • Printables: A community site for 3D print makers with hundreds of pre-made 3D models. 
  • Makers Making Change: More than 100 3D print assistive devices are available for those facing a variety of challenges from dexterity, hearing, vision, and more. All files are free-to-download with an account. 
  • Blender: Free open source 3D creation program that includes tools for more advanced 3D modeling, rigging, animation, etc. It is downloadable and has versions available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

  • The Library owns a Cricut Maker 3 machine available for public use in the Makerspace. 
  • To use the machine, sign into the computer next to the Cricut machine and access Cricut Design Space. You can also download this program onto your own device if you would like to design from home and print at the Library.  
  • The Library has limited supplies of donated materials that can be used for projects, including paper and vinyl. Please bring your project supplies with you as we do not have any available for purchase. 
  • The Library also owns a Cricut Autopress, Heat Press, and Mug Press for public use in vinyl and sublimation projects in the Makerspace.

For projects requiring a heat press, this machine has time and temperature settings reaching up to professional heat press. Works with major brands of iron-on (HTV), Infusible Ink™ & sublimation materials

Glowforge Aura

The Library owns a Glowforge Aura, a powerful laser tool that precisely cuts, engraves, and scores hundreds of materials.

Engrave and cut from materials that are up to 3/8” (9.5mm) high and up to 12” (30.48cm) long including wood, acrylic, leather, veneer, paper, cardboard, mylar, rubber, cork, sandpaper, food. Engrave materials like stone, slate, titanium, marble, aluminum, and ceramic tile. Glowforge Aura can cut materials up to 1/4" thick, and engrave materials up to 3/4" thick with the cutting tray removed.

Sewing Machine

The Library has a Husqvarna sewing machine available for public use in the Makerspace.

Craft Kits and Supplies

The Library offers craft kits for use in the Magazine Lounge and NOW Space. Please write on the clipboard which craft kit you used and the time and date.
