Youth Services Assistant
Are you waiting for the next I Survived series book to come out? Do you have a favorite Mo Willems character? Or are you a Pokémon expert? We are looking for a fun individual who is a team player to be our next Youth Services Library Assistant.
Sugar Grove Public Library seeks an energetic, creative, and highly reliable person who naturally connects with children of all ages and their families. This person will plan, promote, and present programs; participate in collection development; and collaborate with other staff members to promote library services and collections and assist in creating a positive environment. This individual will be responsible for storytimes for baby and preschool age groups, as well as after-school programs for elementary aged children.
As our Library is financially challenged, we run with a very small amount of staff and cross training will be essential. Be prepared to do a little bit of everything at our Library; we view it as an opportunity to stretch your wings and grow in ways that do not typically happen in other Libraries. Our challenges lead to your opportunities to learn and contribute. We are a very friendly staff in a gorgeous Library, and looking for our next great team member.
This is a part time position serving 25 hours per week. The schedule for this position is Monday 10am-6pm, Tuesday 10am- 4pm, Wednesday 10am – 6pm, and every other Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Benefits include accruable PTO, life insurance, and a HSA/FSA employer contribution of $50.00 per pay check. Hourly salary begins at $13.00 per hour.
Must have reliable transportation for occasional travel to offsite work locations. Bachelor's degree or equivalent college coursework plus one or more years of experience working with children required. Library students encouraged to apply.
